Part Time Seasonal
Prefer a Certified Little League Umpire in baseball and softball. Must have thorough knowledge of Little League baseball/softball rules and regulations. Must be present 15 minutes before start of first game. Must notify Superintendent of Recreation a minimum of 24 hours before scheduled game if unable to make assignment. Needs to use good judgement and practice good public relation skills with players and team managers. Must be able to work well with other Little League Umpires, Program Monitors and Supervisors. Little League Umpires must follow Little League International rules and regulations while on duty. Need to be able to control situations that arise on and off the field concerning the game, player(s), spectator(s), or coaches and implement proper disciplining procedures. Must report hazardous or potentially dangerous situations to the Superintendent of Recreation or the supervisor in charge immediately and use good judgement in alleviating the situation. Must completely fill out proper ejection, accident and incident reports as necessary in an effort to document incidents that occur on City facilities.
Must supply and purchase Baseball/Softball Official Clicker, Brush, and Little League Uniform
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Individual will work outdoors, mostly evening hours. The job has no significant hazards and the physical demands are low.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Prefer certified Little League Umpire in baseball or softball or related experience in the field. Must be 18 years of age or older. Other specialized job requirements include good public relations skills and the ability to supervise and control situations in a professional manner that might arise during the job. Valid Texas Drivers License (Class "C") with satisfactory driving record.
