None-Part Time Position


JOB SUMMARY
Requires some knowledge of recreation youth, teens, and adult programs operations and procedures. The individual oversees some volunteer staff members. Other responsibilities include maintaining facility in neat order, dealing with the general public, and supervising participants in recreation and education activities. Assisting in concessions, fundraising, special events, and field trips is required.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Individual works indoors in a well-lighted, air-conditioned office as well as outdoors to oversee programs. The job has no significant hazards and the physical demands are low.


EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
1. Organize and implement programs and supervise participants in recreation activities.
2. Deal with the general public; provide information on all programs, registration and regulations.
3. Assist in the planning for year round recreation, prepare and organize registrations, supplies and special events.
4. Maintain facilities (meeting room, game room, weight room, etc.).
5. Provide list for purchasing equipment and inventory supplies monthly.
6. Perform other appropriate duties as required.
7. Assist in implementation of City of Edinburg Parks & Recreation Department Programs.
8. Maintain safety for public and staff. Also maintain CPR/First Aid Certification.
9. Assist in running city wide special events.
10. Duties involve working with lightweight materials, and/or using force equal to lifting about 30 pounds.


EDUCATION/SKILLS REQUIRED
Prefer high school graduation or equivalent is required. Prefer six (6) months of experience in athletics or P.E. work. Valid TXDL (Class C) with satisfactory driving record. Prefer some knowledge of recreation program development, operation and procedures. Other specialized job requirements include good public relations ability, knowledge of athletic rules/regulations, and maintaining good working conditions. Basic knowledge in educational programs. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Six months experience in Recreation or Related field.
