None-Part Time Position


I. JOB SUMMARY
Must be able to handle situations effectively that arise on and off the court with coaches, players, and spectators. Employee must have knowledge of the rules for High School, NCAA, and local City of Edinburg Parks and Recreation Department rules and regulations. Employee must be able to enforce rule and regulations of the game with authority. Officiate Men's, Women's, High School, Middle High School, boys and girls basketball, volleyball, flag football, tackle football, softball games and tournaments. Employee must be present 15 minutes before start of first game. Employee must notify the Recreation Manager a minimum of 24 hours before scheduled game if unable to make assignment. Substitutes must be city employed and on payroll League Officials needs to use good judgment and practice good public relation skills with players and team coaches. Employee must report to the Recreation Manager for assignments throughout the year. Employee must completely fill out proper ejection reports as necessary in an effort to document incidents that occur on City facilities.


II. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational and technical processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency.

T.A.S.O. (Texas Association of Sport Officials) certified official or an experienced official is preferred.


III. EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
Applicant will be subject to a complete background investigation. Incomplete, inaccurate and/or failure to report information will cause the applicant rejection from consideration.
Applicant must take and pass a pre-employment drug test administered by the City of Edinburg at the City's expense.
Must have a current valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety with a satisfactory driving record.
Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred.


IV. SKILL ABILITY REQUIREMENTS

Normally performs the duty assignment after receiving detailed instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results with little room for deviation.
Work requires the use of standard technical skills appropriate to the work environment of the organization.
Ability to supervise and control situations in a professional manner that might arise.
Customer service skills.


V. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

VIII. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The job has moderate hazards and physical demands are low to moderate. Duties involve considerable bending, lifting, carrying, or walking and/or using equal to lifting 25-50 pounds.
