Part Time Seasonal

I.         JOB SUMMARY 

The purpose of this position is to maintain parks, right-of-ways, golf courses, and outdoor athletic facilities.  Other duties include performing installation of park equipment, maintaining and repairing equipment, setting golf course fixtures and maintaining set landscape, collecting trash, mowing and eliminating weeds, and other duties as required.


Requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes.  Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency.


No experience required.  


  • Applicant will be subject to a complete background investigation.  Incomplete, inaccurate and/or failure to report information will cause the applicant rejection from consideration.
  • Applicant must take and pass a pre-employment drug test administered by the City of Edinburg at the City's expense.
  • Must have a current valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Herbicide/Pesticide Applicator's License preferred.


  • Requires a working knowledge of grounds, golf course, and parks maintenance processes and procedures.
  • Job has no responsibility for the direction or supervision of others.
  • Work requires regular interaction involving exchange and receipt of information.
  • Normally performs the duty assignment after receiving detailed instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results with little room for deviation. The immediate supervisor may, at times, provide close and constant review.
  • Work requires the use of standard technical skills appropriate to the work environment of the organization.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools associated with landscape work.

  • Inspect athletic fields, equipment, and any public facilities on a daily basis; open and close sports facilities and/or golf course; pick up trash; maintain lawns and gardens; conduct specialized plant care; mulch gardens; rake sand traps and set game fixtures at the golf course; trim and mow daily, or as needed; install and maintain trails and walking paths; paint and touch-up facilities, as needed.
  • Participate in training and job safety programs to include proper use and maintenance of all hand and power tools, mobile equipment, procedures and first aid; utilize safety equipment at all times
  • Perform equipment maintenance, repair, and cleaning daily; replace damaged parts; ensure fluids in all equipment pieces are maintained at appropriate levels.
  • Apply fertilizers and herbicides, seasonally; repair irrigation system, when needed; maintain and use water pumps; water grounds manually with a hose or garden sprinkler.

Frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards.  Majority of work performed outside or with exposure to risk.


The job has medium hazards associated with working with equipment and the physical demands are heavy.
