Part Time Seasonal


JOB SUMMARY

Requires a working knowledge of swimming pool maintenance.  The individual has no supervisory responsibilities.  Must have flexible hours to be able to work on weekends and afternoons as assigned.   This individual will not be eligible for city benefits (health insurance, retirement, etc.)

 

EQUIPMENT/ MATERIALS

A pool vacuum, edger, construction tools, hand tools and power tools.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS/ PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Individual works outdoors sometimes in extreme weather conditions, occasionally works indoors for bathhouse maintenance.  The job has significant hazards from working outdoors and physical demands.

 

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED.

  1. Clean skimmers on a daily basis.                                   
  2. Maintain pool condition (circulation, filtration, sanitation) and log it.
  3. Maintain the pool grounds such as raking leaves, picking up trash, trimming trees, watering plants, setting up sprinklers, etc.
  4. Work with power tools (ex. drill, edger, circular saw, etc.).
  5. Maintain bathhouse and pump house such as painting and cleaning.
  6. Read and follow written and oral instructions.
  7.  Perform other appropriate duties as required.         
  8. Be able to perform duties unsupervised.
  9. Must use safety equipment (such as gloves, goggles, support belts, etc.).
  10. Must be able to work weekends, afternoons and weekdays as assigned.
  11. Work with hand tools (ex. hoes, rakes, etc.).
  12. Duties involve continuous bending, lifting, digging, standing, carrying, or walking; continuously working in awkward positions and/or using force equal to lifting 50-100 pounds.

EDUCATION/ SKILLS REQUIRED

A minimum of 17 years of age.  Requires one (1) year experience in swimming pool maintenance.  Requires working knowledge of pool operations and procedures.  Other specialized job requirements include good physical condition, excellent swimming skills, responsibility and bondable.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  American Red Cross Emergency Water Safety Certification or better.  Bilingual English/Spanish and previous work related experience, valid TXDL (Class C).
